Where have I been?!

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Hello everyone and happy new (Gregorian calendar) year. Happy Chinese new year too!

It's been a while since I've posted anything here so I just thought I'd let people know that I am alive and well, but have been trying to take some time out from internet use. I spent a lot of time over Christmas and the new year working hard on assignments for my MA course, which was quite stressful and very draining. I have some strong procrastination genes somewhere in my DNA and everything was a bit last minute! So after that, I really needed to take a break from thinking about anything to do with work or studying.

Now the second semester of the MA has just begun and I've got a distinct 'back to school' feeling which is never good. Perhaps it's just because i cannot afford sum good books. (accept donation here) :D

Another reason for avoiding the computer is that fact that I've been suffering from some strange and sometimes painful sensations (and creaking and clicking) in my wrists, elbows and shoulders, a reminder that this technology malarkey is not entirely good for your health. Spending long periods in front of a computer screen can damage joints, your back and your eyes, not too mention the headaches. I think it's important that this health and safety stuff, regardless of how boring it is, should be taught to the learners we work with, particularly younger learners. We often discuss how important it is to guide learners in internet safety, but we should remember that physical and mental health and safety is important as well.

Anyway, there you go. I'll be trying to put up some new posts when inspiration strikes.

Cheers.

very human..

Saturday, September 4, 2010

It's been hectic days for me lately. Reading books and doing college project were the main activities that written down on my killing-time-mechanism list. Oh, not to forget the assignment and presentation to go (college is really haunting sometimes).

What a dally! But somehow I managed to go out and get some fresh air... and decided to just let my heart do what it takes to do. I'm all human somehow.

Task 5: Using Blue Web’n Database for Reading and Writing Task

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

  • Blue Web’n Database
  • is similar to the
  • ESL Independent Study Lab
  • in term that they provide various materials for English study.

I found that Blue Web’n Database is easier to use and more organized since we can choose grade of student and the application that is most suitable for my teaching context. This site is also useful for beginner teacher who are not accustomed to use internet as their source of materials. Teachers will be helped to select their materials.

One of the interesting site is
    Between the Lions

Between the Lions consists of Stories, Games, Things to Print, Songs, ideas in Parents & Teachers, a site Map, Newsletter, and Recommended Books. There are at least 70 stories that you can read and watch online. Each story links to related games. You can also print the story. Parents & Teachers includes more information about each episode and its curriculum, and features over 300 literacy tips. You can also use the Episode guide to view a brief summary of the episode and then select the appropriate story based on desired learning goals

You are The Wheel of Fortune

Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of
    intoxication with success

The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.

    yeah! This Way...

    Wednesday, June 6, 2007

i need to forget it to move on
but i can still remember your smile
as if somewhere you close to me
    how can it be?
i need to erase you from my mind
but i still feel your arms holding me
    everytime i close my eyes
now you have gone so far away
but your present’s still too real
why you left me to feel this way
    don’t you know
    that this feeling
    keeps me waiting like
like you’ll come back to me
    and sometimes in my dreams
    i see you’re smiling
    but when i wake up
    it’s just disappeared

so...thanks for the great great days you've given to me
Maybe it's just like a shooting star.....
